My inspiration

After all, the best inspiration of my life is music..

I used to sit and practice khim (dulcimer) all day long.. as the sound was so soothing. I felt like breathing fresh air..and the more I practice, the more refine I play, the more beautiful the music came out.

Wanna play violin too.

Moved

When I first started at my new job, since the team growing so fast, there was not enough space for me in the same area with my team,

so my boss had me sitting with marketing team on the other wing on the same floor...will re-arrange the sitting area later.

A few weeks later, I've moved again. This is also a temporary move...allowing them to renovate the front section. By the year end, I should get to sit with my own team. ..hopefully, hehe :)

Freaked Out!

Last week, I suddenly got so freaked out for no reason... coupled with I got stuck in flood alone for 5 hours in the middle of the city...couldn't go home and couldn't reach anyone.

Anyway, it went away as soon as the very first day I started @ my new work. I felt very relaxed and had a lot of fun exploring new things and getting to know new people!!

I never smile so brightly the entire day like this for a long long time. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Been a week at new environment already... I've changed my daily schedule to early morning, woke up @6am, left home by 6:45 and arrive work around 7:30.am Although the commute is longer, but the traffic is better. I really enjoy the morning breeze while driving... (I wish I have a convertible car! ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coffee machine - make pretty good cappuccino

Met my boss on Wednesday, he gave me orientation more specifically on the Region team and the new operating framework. One of the sentence he said is very impressive to me: "I'm so tempting to throw work at you, but since you're new so it won't be fair"

He then set up schedule with appropriate persons to go over everything with me this week and next week.

I think that's a very good start!

~~~~~~~~~~
Just got a chance to watch Raising Helen - Kate Hudson, the movie is very cute. It got me thinking that sometimes certain things happen to your life that's not really your choice... and you may not like it at all... but eventually this unplanned incident might be one of the most incredible thing ever happen in your life.
I do cherish some unplanned things...like how I met some nice people
Oct 15
Today we played badminton at a court in Sukhumvit soi 22. It's the first time ever that I beat P' Glen!!! yeahhhh ^^ it rarely happenned for me to hit the shuttlecock just right above the net (most of the time it stucked) but not today. Got several points in a row hitting such that to P Glen and he couldn't catch them. hee hee heee
I actually think the net here maybe a bit lower than at YWCA that we usually play... hmm anyway :P
The weather was very hot today and it was even hotter playing badminton in such temperature. Feeling like playing in sauna room. Nok took a break time doing some yoga move... I think she tried to do the famous "hot yoga" :)
Kao+ called asking about tomorrow if we could meet for lunch or something. He said he'll introduce me some of his friends. He's been busy traveling lately... although complaining how exhausting he was, I think he likes the job, esp the travel part.
Lightening and Friends
I finally got to see PIXAR's Cars!!
The movie was great! The animation was awesome... all the cars are so life-like and shiny :)
My favorite charactor happens to be "Guido" - the determined little fork-lift
The message the movie wanted to deliver was being the winner isn't everything without friends...and that's what McQueen realized after spending time in Radiator Springs on route66...
This is a short, but cute scene, from the movie:
A Phone Call
There were a few unknown phone numbers trying to get a hold of me since the begining of the week... Unintentionally, I did not answer them as the calls came in a bad timing and I don't usually return unknown missed calls.
Finally yesterday, another unknown number came in, my intuition said it was a friendly call so I answer it. Yes, it was a friendly call... It took them exactly 2 months to make decision and they told me that I'm one of their "short-listed candidates" :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~

There are times when we feel like we are just a "nobody" to people around us (co-workers, bosses, friends, etc) ...undeniably, that certainly ruins our "will" to live the life...

but the truth is, those people are only a small part of our lives... there are several million other people out there in the world. Everyone is special in our own way. Don't feel bad if "some" people don't appreciate us. Being ourselves and do our best. There sure are people who see it!!

Shi Mi Zu shabu shabu

Friday again, FP&A shall hang out together after a while. Last week I went home early to help mom prepare for Tam boon baan and the Friday before I went to celebrate 1st day at new work with Yod and Kao+.

This time it's Karn's Birthday (Sep14) and the day I announced my departure. We went to have casual dinner at ShimiZu Shabu Shabu in RAMAIII. It's by Soi 52 near Ho Kitchen.

There were 8 of us -- Karn, Namphon, Pookie, Ae+ FMP, Aey, Joy, Kiang and myself. BTW Ae+ is getting married. This was one of the hot topic during the dinner. Tarn, another FMP in FP&A Auto team, also getting married!! We single FP&A girls became very interested to join the FMP program now:)

We were talking and laughing so loud...Ae+ just came back from her rotation in Japan.. been a while not seeing the twins: Ae+ and Namphon-- they acted and talked the same way. It's just double the fun :)

The shabu shabu was awesome! The marinated pork was the best. The shimizu meatball also tasty. BTW, ate and talked too much that I forgot to take any picture to share with you... hehehe

It was raining and stormy on the way home. Called Puen to confirm Sunday. Khun P Yod is out of town again this weekend. Wonder if we still recognize each other...hohoho ^.^

0909

This year Tam Boon Baan (prepare food for 9 monks at our house and receive good wish from them) on 09-09-2549. Last year was on Song Kran-April15.

... on a different note, I'm back to Thailand exactly 3 years on this day. So many things (bad and good) happened to me during the past 3 years more than the 10 years before, it seems like. But I have no regret... The good ones were wonderful and the bad ones were experience ^^

..Back to Tam Boon Baan. I was assigned to be in charge of fruits - clean, cut and decorate.
I was having fun with making the cantaloup in small bite-size and put them back into its peel.
I did cut myself a lilte bit on the side of my palm... it's ok now though

Well...let see how it came out... tada

Those are Guava, Pineapple, Watermelon, Gold Kiwi fruit and Cantaloup.

Help mom tasting the food while working on the watermelon

What a small world!

This past Saturday while I was having dinner @ Banana leaf with Ann... Yod, knowing that he's at his friend's wedding, called me with an exciting voice...

"Jiib, I'm at my friend's wedding and I think I just saw N' Vee in the same wedding! maybe you can call ask him if he's in a wedding right now where the bride's name is YodKwan..." "well, Vee is a tall slim guy, right?"

"Yes, he is. Why don't you go talk to him. I'm sure he recognize you :)" I got excited with him

I'm sure they both recognize each other.

a few mins after, out of curiosity, I called Vee.
"Hey Vee, are you in a wedding... " I havn't finish my sentence.
"Hello P' Jib! I'm with P' Yod right now!!"

Turned out the bride was Yod's friend in AZ during Master degree. The bride's name is also Yod. They knew each other in a Thai restaurant in Phoenix. The bride then taking Ph.D. in Virginia where she met the groom.

Both the bride and the groom got to know Vee in Virginia. They are in "Power Gang" as Vee mentioned oftenly. One time I was at Vee's desk discussing work and the phone rang... Vee answer the phone saying hi to the other end of the line "Sawasdee Krab P' Yod" (I thought he was teasing me or something!!!) then he told me about his "power gang" of mainly Ph. D. students and himself as the youngest brother in the gang.

Yes it sure is a small world!!

What Alcoholic Drink Are You?

You Are Sex On the Beach

When comes to drinking, you like it to go down smooth.
You really don't like the taste of alcohol - just its effect on you.
So, you're proud to get drunk on fruity, girly drinks.
Because once you're liquored up, the fun begins!

What Year Do You Belong In?

You Belong in 1980

If you scored...

1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!

1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

The Break-Up

^_*

I went to see Jennifer Aniston's movie "The Break-Up" with my friend, Kiang. Kiang is a girl, btw. Just felt like chick-flick after a long time. Although I rather call it a grown-up romantic comedy as "Chick-flick" reminds me of Lindsay Lohan's movie instead...

I'm Jen's big fan since "Friends" and especially after her real life break-up with Brad, she score a whole bunch from me. So although the movie didn't get good critic's review, I'm watching it anyway.

Not the best movie I've seen but it was entertaining. It got me thinking if two people decided to be together they just had to maintain certain level of "respect" to each other's feelings. It's undeniable that once two people reach certain point in a relationship, they tend to get too comfortable being themselves... starting to be "selfish"

After all, ups and downs in relationship is normal. As long as they communicate and open, things should be fine. Personally, I can't wait for the very first fight between me and my special someone.... I take that first serious fight as a critical point where two people really get to know each other... and get to know what make up of the two of them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The movie scene in Chicago.. my second home. The skyline of Chicago architecture by Lake Michigan is the best! I will definitely go visit there again.
On another note, I still don't get a chance to see "The Lake House" and "Cars" although those two movies are more interesting -- this is becuz the movie line-up in Thailand sucks! oops sorry for the language.. but it's true!!
Germany Won Portugal!!
Bastian Schweinsteiger scored two second-half goals for Germany claiming third place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ by beating Portugal 3-1 in Stuttgart on Saturday, 8 July 2006.
Ballack didn't play this match due to knee injury. All other squads got to attend the Worlcup in this match (except HILDEBRAND Timo -- 3rd Goal Keeper). Everyone did a GREAT job - it was an awesome game. Really worth not sleeping to watch! :)
Germany finished the tournament with total 14 goals to their name - three more than any other team with just Sunday's Final to play.
Do talk her talk: Ashton - Demi
Ashton -Demi marriage a while ago (Sept 2005) really got me to be open to this concept of older woman-younger man.. just recently found this article and I thought you might find interesting!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heck, if a man like Ashton will pass up budding starlets for mother-of-three Demi, there must be certain upsides to a woman of experience It’s a huge allure for young men because here’s a sophisticated, attractive woman in control of her own life,” explains Valerie Gibson, author of Cougar: A Guide For Older Women Dating Younger Men.

“Often, she doesn’t want to get married and doesn’t want children. For a young man, she’s a sexy, exciting companion.”

Do talk her talk:
Above everything, an older woman would like to have a decent conversation. Questions like "What’s your major?” and “Did you see the new O.C.?” are suddenly moot. Ask her questions about her job, her hobbies, what type of music she likes.

Don’t play around:
"If a guy tries that three-day rule, I’m already thinking he’s too insecure to handle a relationship with me.” The solution’s simple: Just act like you feel, not how you think you should.

Do stay cool:
Don’t date an older woman if you can’t handle that attention. But if you’re deft, you’ll not only cope, you’ll impress your lady with your maturity and charm. That stodgy couple one table over insists on gawking? Turn, smile, and smoothly say, “I don’t blame you for staring. She’s beautiful, isn’t she?”

Don’t mention the numbers:
A line like, “It’s so great that we get along despite the generation gap,” sounds good in your head, but comes across as, “I’m glad we get along even though you’re so old.” Besides, it’s your personalities, not your birthday candles, that are compatible—and that’s where you should concentrate. So please, avoid asking questions like, “Did video games exist yet when you were a kid?”

Do act your age:
Fact is, if she wanted to date a man her age, she would, so don’t pressure yourself to act more sophisticated than you are. ...the reason that somebody is attracted to younger guys is that their minds are more open. They offer spontaneity and fun...

HoMe EarlY ^_*

Traffic was very bad this morning...took me 2 hours to get to the office -- that's for 16 Km commute!

Maybe I havn't been getting enough sleep for a month.. June is the craziest month... maybe the same or worse than February - short month but a lot to do..

People asked me what's the plan for today - Friday. I was gonna have casual dinner with Kao+ but then feeling really exhausted so I decided to go home early for a change.

Traffic was quite bad on the way back home... anyway, I managed to be home by 8pm-ish... probably the earliest I've ever been home from work... and it's been a year at work for me already.

No special thing planned except getting some rest... oh and to see Germany in Worldcup at 10pm :)

Took a shower.. update blog for the day... and I'm ready to go cheer Germany in front of TV!

Forgiving

I found this:

"Remember, forgiving someone doesn't mean that
you condoned what they did.

It just means that you refuse to let it have any
power over you or what you do."

Healthy Selfishness

The other day I came across an article with this unfamiliar header "Healthy Selfishness"

It's basically telling you to be honest to your own feeling and needs... and put your own needs first. Sounds like being a bad person...why is it good?

In reality, many people do put others' need first as they feel obligated to please other people... or feel guilty to ask for what they want. But

"...failing to put our own needs first, we hope or assume others will give to us as we give to them. But they don't. And an unhealthy dynamic begins...

...Healthy selfishness opens the door to a life of freedom -- freedom from being ruled by the opinions and demands of others as well as freedom from the voices in your own mind..."
<taken from http://lifestyle.msn.com/MindBodyandSoul/PersonalGrowth/Articlelhj.aspx?cp-documentid=496530>

I couldn't agree more that I used to deny my own needs in order to please someone...
I would stretch way out of my comfort zone to do thing someone dare to ask. Back then, my motto was "if you dare to ask, I would dare to give" .......I'd been feeling just fine until the day that person "changed his mind"... I began to realize how I'd betrayed myself big time.

Ohh... this day finally comes

First thing I thought of this morning is how to get through the d*mn 1.5 hour traffic (for 15 km commute) to the office without getting wear off for the day already...

Arrived office, my boss called me up to see him in his office and asked me to "close the door"... Whoaaa... must be something real important, I think

"CONGRATULATIONS! you've been with us for a full 1 year already today ^_^"

oh yessssss.....
it's been a full 1 year at GE for me!
What I've learned? Technical stuff at work, of course. How to manage colleagues/ prioritize tasks. How to negotiate and convince colleague & boss. How to ask for help from& give help to others during crunch time.....

One thing I admire at GE is that people here are all so smart. This is one of the work environment where people "get" each other so quickly and I love it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...and on a different note... though stressful work and physically exhausted at times, I no longer had such detoriorating sad feelings like this same day last year. I let go of the pain but never forget to learn from past mistakes. Bad things happenned in everyone's life...sooner or later...got to let go and move on, I believe.
Fuji, Fireworks and Faris Wheel
Today June 9, 2006 is the big day for Thai people to celebrate our king 60 years in the throne .... we are encouraged to wear yellow --HM the king's color... and we'll have fireworks today, Sat and Sunday.
Recently announced a national holiday today but, undoubtedly, I still have to work. Anyhow, at 5:20pm I finished all I needed for the day (Fuji review) so I left my desk behind and grab my gym bag.. quite exhausted and got a bit headache but managed to finish 30 mins brisk uphill walk and 15 min yoga before V called. BTW, I don't think yoga is good for me...it's relaxing -- yes...but to me it seems too slow. I need something more energatic and strenuous.
Koy, V and I went to Suan lum night around 7:30pm to find a spot for fireworks...the place was crowded and not very good spot to watch the firework after all... so we grab dinner and went up the Faris Wheel. 100 Bht each for the smooth ride...just wish we can be up there longer.
V took a few pix... will get them in this blog soon
Badminton Sunday
Every Sunday if no special thing plan, we'll play badminton together.
Badminton is one of my most favorite sport that I've been playing since I was young (and seem to do quite well) Another sport I like is Volleyball, which is kinda hard to find enough people who like to play and schedule time to play...
This Sunday Badminton thing is actually Marketing team thing. They schedule time to play together. There are about 10 of them, I think. How did I get to join them?? Well, since I know some of the people, I invited myself to play with them... and what to do with those people I didn't know? Just make friends with them... making friends is something comes quite naturally to me.
The very first few time I really suck. Been a while not playing and not getting along with people I paired with...so I tried to be entertaining instead.
This time, out of the blue, Yod seriously mentioned that I played very well :) :) :) A lot better than a few times before. Well, I'm not used to getting compliment... but I accept it with big smile on my face... ^^
Getting fittttt :)
Currently, my right hand/ arm is quite shaky...
cannot even have a good grip of a glass of water...
I just came back from playing badminton with a bunch of friends from SF-QC Marketing team.
Actually the stiff muscle isn't only my right arm, but left arm, both shoulders, upper back, upper legs and abs... I went to the gym yesterday for 3 hours with Ling+ Ling+ and Imm.
I really love this feeling of stiff muscle after working out :) :)
I've been going to the gym 3 times a week for about 2 weeks (only) but I feel the different on my body and , more importantly, on my mood!!
I've been feeling very happy, lively and energatic :)
For some reasons, I coulnd't help smiling for no specific reason..
it could be becuz of the nice people I went working out with
Birthday for others
Nok and I have been Birthday buddies since the very first time we knew each other... ummm 11 years ago (this is the first time I really count it!)
My birthday was Apr 15 and Nok was Apr17.
This year we decided to do somthing nice for someone who has a lot less.... We planned to go to children home called "Baan Kru Noi" (Teacher Noi's home for children)
Nok brought sandwish ice-cream and a bunch of snack/ sweet... some clothing, and some money donated from her co-wokers.
I brought school stationary, pencil, eraser, color pencils, Drawing books, sport equipments: football, volleyball, pool ball, and some money from my co-woker as well.
The children age ranging 4 -14 years old.. there were 40 of them. They really enjoyed the ice cream. We play game with them, talk with them, eat sweets with them. Then we draw some name and gave away those balls. They love to play football and volleyball too.
Yeah, we only been there around 2 hours...seems very short, but I really hope this does make a bit difference in someone's life. I really wish thos children to grow up to be good adults.
~~~~~~~~~~><~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Later in the day, I went to the gym, playing with weight machines for my shoulder, tricep and my upper legs, then there was a jazz dance class, sauna, shower... from 5:40pm I was done at 9:45pm. quite exhausted but I felt really energatc and really really great.

I did good for myself today... my body and my soul..

Oyasu minnasai

Had dinner with Kao after Fogo Vivo and karaoke plans were fold...

Anyway, Kao and I had quite a good conversation. Regardless of us not keeping in touch for....like 7 years...I think, we still speak the same language and being ourselves (sometimes quite too much...hohohoho) It's a good dinner...we talked for 4 hours... actually there're still more to talk but it was getting too late so we each headed home.

Got home about 30 mins after, Kao called to make sure I got home fine and say Oyasu Min na sai. He's practicing Japanese as his current prospect is a cute Jap girl :)

Sympathique

I love this song so much. It's on Starbuck's Rendevouz de Paris compilation I bought since 2001..

Never though I found anyone liking this song... or even knowing this song

I found someone not only know this song..but they said they LOVE IT!!

I love it too!!!

It's Monday March 13th

Don't know how often people feel like this,
but, to me, I've been feeling like time flies by so fast!

I felt like I just celebrated New Year not long ago,
but this is mid March already -- almost 1/4 of the year 2006 already gone.
quite scary, huh?

There are still several things I wanna do but have not yet accomplished..

Better mood today.
Although things are the same as yesterday.

In time of stress like this,
it's not enough to wait but to reach out to others

So I picked up the phone and started the conversation to those people I missed

At least they should know that they have not been forgotten by me
I don't care if they might not be in a very good mood
Hopefully I could at least take their mind off from trouble
and smile for a few mins.
